Bliss: Not Quite
I am a candy junkie. I'm not proud of it, but I admit it. Today I was walking around WalMart trying to think of something fun to put in one last package to send Tyler. He is also a candy junkie. It's about all he ever asks for when I tell him I'm sending a package. That's okay. I'm sure candy is a little harder to come by in Africa. I usually try to send him something new on the candy scene, so today I bought a bag of the new Hershey's Bliss miniatures. Being a nut lover, I chose the milk chocolate with almonds variety. Of course I had to try one, okay some, and ripped the bag open with my teeth the second I got in the car. My verdict: Bliss is NOT QUITE GUILTY of creating bliss. I really think I like the good old regular Hershey's chocolate better and the almonds are so finely ground, it could take a day to get all the little pieces out of my teeth. So there's my "review" of the new Bliss with Almonds from Hersheys. I guess I'll try again tomorrow to find something for Tyler's package. Any suggestions ?

FYI about TY
We got Tyler's travel papers for his mission return! He will get here on Thursday, June 5th, around 8:30 p.m. That is Mom's birthday too. So maybe we could all have cake before or after. Tyler's report and our farewell, and yes, I realize these are both "illegal" terms, will be June 15th at 9:00 a.m.

Finally........Our File is Complete
Today we got an email that said our file for our mission was complete. I am thrilled that the medical and dental appointments, the shots, the pictures, etc., and all the paperwork are done! I felt like we should celebrate because quite frankly, it has been a lot of work, possibly even a pain. When I went back to Alan's office to share the good news with him he didn't act nearly as excited as I thought he would. So I guess I will just celebrate by myself here on my blog. Whew! Yippee! Yeah! Yahoo! ! *! * ! * ! *

I'm coming clean
I feel like such a fake and a phony. I have to come clean....I have been to the store 3 times since I posted about how I was "Saving the Earth" and never used the fabric bag again. I'm pathetic. I want to do it. I really do. My mushy brain just won't let me. The big hurdle I've got to get over now is remembering to put the reusable bag back in the car so I'll have it when I go shopping. So thanks for the encouraging comments and pats on the back even though I didn't deserve them. I'll try to do better.
Bobbi, I really might bring you a bunch of bags for Carter to take to school. I hope you were serious about that. And no, Becca, I didn't take that picture in our yard.

Saving the Earth
All of a sudden I have tons of plastic grocery bags. There is hardly room for the vacuum in the closet it shares with the grocery bags. So about a month ago I decided I could just take my own shopping bag when I go to the store and eliminate all this bag build up. Since Alan and I are here alone I don't usually buy that many groceries at a time any more, and I have a sturdy fabric bag I was given at the gift market that I thought would work just fine. I tossed it in the car and was all set to go. I've probably been to the store 6 or 7 times since and never remembered to use it.... until yesterday. Okay, I did have to go back out to the car to get it because I didn't think of it until I was almost at the check out line, but at least I finally used it. I must say I was just a little proud of myself. Not just for the fact that I finally remembered, but because I was finally doing my part to save the earth. I hate to admit it, but as I left with my groceries in my fabric bag, I looked at everyone else with all their plastic and felt just a little "greener than thou."
